“I will not fear the darkness where, desiring to find You, my desire does not seem to find You. But, if I desire You, I have already found You. If I love You, You are with me. If I cry out to You, You have already heard my voice.” – Thomas Merton, Dialogues with Silence, 2001, edited by Jonathan Montaldo, HarperSanFrancisco
If I desire you, I have already found you. If I love you, you are with me. If I cry out to you, you have already heard my voice.
Wow. Think about that. Ponder that.
Sometimes we feel like God is absent but he is never absent. So what will it take to convince us that God is with us always, even in the difficult, painful, lonely times of our lives?
When we desire to find God, we have already found him.
Sit with that today. Put it on a piece of paper and tape it to your mirror. Or use the paper as a bookmark and stick it into your devotional or bible, whatever you look at every day.
Reflect. Remember.
Believe.
Thank you, Colleen. God bless you
Thanks Susan!
Exactly what I have been struggling with. Thanks!
Thanks, Suzi! That quote really spoke to me.
